    Job Description

    • Full-time locum assignment with potential for extended contract extensions
    • Treat a mixed patient population of children and adults
    • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, no evenings, weekends, or holidays
    • Eligible to work under any U.S. NP license
    • Prior experience with IHS, travel, or contract positions is advantageous
    • Expertise in Family Practice or Internal Medicine preferred
    • Target start date: April 2026

    Role Overview

    In this position, you will provide comprehensive primary care services, including:

    • Conducting patient assessments, diagnosing conditions, and developing treatment plans
    • Providing education to patients, families, and the broader community on health and wellness
    • Coordinating referrals to specialty care and ensuring follow-up
    • Maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation
    • Ordering and interpreting lab and diagnostic tests
    • Prescribing medications following IHS formulary guidelines
    • Supporting quality improvement efforts and adherence to safety protocols

    Requirements

    • Solid experience in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
    • Skilled in outpatient care for pediatric and adult patients
    • Able to prescribe medications according to IHS policies
    • Strong commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care
    • Must be certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
    • 2 years of experience as a Family, Internal Medicine or Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner
    • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
    • Must be Board Eligible or Certified
    • Active DEA license
    • Must have current BLS
    • ACLS, PALS preferred
    • Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts
    • Must be a U.S. citizen living primarily in the United States
    • Must be willing to pass a federal background check
    • Must not require visa sponsorship (no visa holders or green card residents)
    • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
