    Gastroenterologist

    Join our team as a Gastroenterologist, where you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care for patients with digestive system disorders.

    Job Description

    • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations for symptoms related to the digestive system, including taking medical history, physical examinations, and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.
    • Diagnose and manage a wide range of GI conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, colon cancer, liver disease, pancreatitis, and biliary tract disorders.
    • Perform endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) to visualize the GI tract, obtain biopsies, and perform therapeutic interventions. (ERCP & EUS experience is beneficial but not required).
    • Interpret and analyze results from endoscopic procedures, imaging studies (e.g., barium studies, CT scans, MRIs), and laboratory tests to formulate accurate diagnoses.
    • Develop and implement treatment plans including medication management, dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, and referral to other specialists when necessary.
    • Refer patients to other medical professionals and specialists if further diagnostic testing or treatment is warranted.
    • Incorporate acceptable standards of professional practice as well as practice goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.

    Requirements

    • Doctorate degree and completion of medical school. Board certified in Gastroenterology.
    • Full completion of residency and fellowship program.
    • Medical license in the state of North Carolina as a Physician.
    • Must obtain and maintain a valid DEA registration and prescribe in accordance with all applicable NC guidelines including participation in mandatory narcotic training.
    • Must obtain and maintain valid ACLS/BLS certification; must also obtain and upkeep required CMEs to maintain required licensure.
    • Must successfully obtain and maintain hospital privileges and must participate in call with our rotating provider call group.
    • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the patients served at our practice.
    • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain professional, positive, caring relationships with administration, management, physicians, APPs, ancillary support staff, and patients/families.
    • Demonstrate the ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment as appropriate.
    • Demonstrate good clinical judgment and critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in the application of acceptable standards of practice.
    • Possess the necessary physical stamina required for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. Must demonstrate excellent mobility and visual manual dexterity.
