Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for locum coverage in a high-acuity Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

Job Description

• No resident coverage; APPs and Fellows report directly to attendings.
• Weekdays: 6 FLPs + 1 resource APP; 1:6 ratio; APPs write daily notes.
• Weekends/Nights: 3 FLPs; ratios up to 1:12; limited documentation (admissions, discharges, procedures, major events only).
• 32 total beds: 20-bed main CICU + 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMU).
• Patients include congenital and acquired cardiac conditions, with a focus on:
  • Pre/post-op surgical care
  • Pediatric heart failure & transplant
  • ECMO, VADs (PediMag, CentriMag, HeartMate 3)
  • RRT (Aquadex), pulmonary HTN, EP device management

Requirements

• Must independently perform: removal of chest tubes, cardiac lines, pacing wires, surgical drains.
• Preferred but not required: insertion of chest tubes, central/arterial lines, intubation.

• Practice in a collaborative, high-acuity environment with critical care-trained nursing staff.
• IMU is evolving into a step-down unit with ICU-level standards.
