Join our team as a Surgical Technician in Herndon, VA, where you will play a vital role in the surgical team, ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical process.

Job Description

• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to physicians and keep an accurate count of the instruments.
• Assist the surgical team to dress for surgery.
• Suture incisions made by the surgeon.
• Apply dressings and appropriate garments to surgical sites.
• Prepare and preserve specimens obtained during surgery and complete appropriate paperwork for these specimens.
• Operate the lights, suction machines, and other equipment as needed during surgery.
• Transport the patient to their support person's car.
• Clean and restock the operating room for the next surgery.
• Keep accurate measurements of all tissue/fat removed from the patient during surgery.
• Keep an accurate record of the amount of local anesthetic injected into the patient during surgery.
• Accurately close out invoices as procedures are completed.
• Assist the Material Manager on an as-needed basis.
• Responsible for inventory and notifying the correct personnel for ordering.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Surgical Tech certification.
• Thorough working knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Ability to pass instruments and sterile supplies to physicians.
• Ability to suture incisions.
• Ability to apply dressings.
• Ability to clean and stock rooms.
• Ability to arrange surgical supplies and instruments.
• Knowledge and administration of medications.
• BLS certification.
• Must be certified.
