Location: Houlton Regional Hospital

Houlton is a town in and the county seat of Aroostook County, Maine, on the Canada-United States border. It is perhaps best known for being at the northern terminus of Interstate 95.

Job Description

• Hospital serves a broader area of about 17,000
• Schedule: 7-10, 24-hour shifts/month
• 24/7 call coverage
• Critical Access Hospital
• ICU Beds: 0; Up to 4 Intermediate Care Beds located within Acute Care Unit
• Acute Beds: 19 with occasional medical overflow on the LDRP Unit
• Swing Beds: Intermingled with 19 Acute Care Unit beds
• Average Daily Census: 14
• Max Census: 25
• Average Daily Discharges: 2
• Average Length of Stay (LOS): 4.02, 3.46 (excluding DWP), rolling average 4.93, 3.73 (excluding DWP)
• Average Weekly Admissions: About 24 admissions to Inpatients, Observations, and Swing per week
• Acuity: CHF, COPD, Pneumonia, DKA

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience practicing autonomously
• Vent Management
• Central Lines
• Lumbar Puncture
• Paracentesis/Thoracentesis
• Intubations
• Active ME License or the ability to obtain

Compensation & Benefits

• Independent Contractor (1099)
• Malpractice Insurance Covered by RPG
• Providers have a private office space as well as space with private bathroom and shower
• Linens and housekeeping provided
• Providers are provided 3 full meals a day from the dietary department
• wRVU model:
  • Base - $1,800/shift
  • Travel - $100/shift
  • Eligible for Prime
  • wRVU Threshold 18 average over the quarter
  • wRVU payment - $29.69 for any wRVUs generated (Average is 18 so you would be looking at around an additional $534.42+ per shift)

Subspecialty Support

• Neurology (Outpatient clinic only), General Surgery, & Anesthesia

Anesthesia is in-house Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with after-hours and weekend call.

General Surgery is available most weeks Monday to Thursday. Limited after-hours coverage. There is no weekend coverage for General Surgery.
