    Chief Nurse Consultant

    The Chief Nurse Consultant plays a vital role in reviewing and abstracting information from various medical records, including death certificates, birth certificates, fetal death certificates, hospitalization records, autopsies, and social service records. This position involves collecting relevant data into a case narrative and may require contacting hospitals to arrange access to medical records for assigned cases.

    Job Description

    • Review and abstract information from medical and hospitalization records to create case narratives.
    • Contact hospitals and arrange access to medical records for assigned cases.
    • Receive assigned cases from the program coordinator and abstract them within a specified time period.
    • Review records from each hospital, fill out appropriate abstraction forms, and provide additional information on each case in the FIMR database.
    • Attend review committee meetings as required.

    Requirements

    • Demonstrate professionalism and a full understanding of the authority and legislative parameters under which the position operates.
    • Cultivate ongoing relationships with agencies providing medical and social records for the FIMR program.

    Physical Effort

    • Ability to type on a computer, communicate via telephone, and sit or stand at a workstation for a 7.5-hour workday.
    • Must be able to drive to medical facilities when on-site abstraction is required.

    Working Conditions

    • The position is fully remote but requires in-state travel, with some overnight travel possible.
