    Job Description

    • The Med/Surg RN coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate, and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.
    • Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs.
    • Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of patients.
    • Develops individual nursing care plans.
    • Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed.
    • Evaluates patient care outcomes.
    • Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees.
    • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies.
    • Communicates with patients and oversees the provision of care.
    • Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to their condition.
    • Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.

    Requirements

    • Associate's degree in nursing required.
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
    • Current RN license in the state of Kentucky.
