Job Description

• Location: San Antonio, TX
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM; part-time options available if full-time is not feasible
• Setting: Clinic and Surgical Center (No Hospital Affiliation)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced surgeon to assist in a high-volume surgical environment. The role involves supporting a busy practice with two operating rooms, helping complete procedures efficiently so the attending surgeon can transition to the next case. This position may evolve into a permanent opportunity. Both neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons will be considered.

General Duties

• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
• Correlate subjective and objective data to formulate differential and working diagnoses
• Develop treatment plans for neurosurgical conditions within scope of practice and in collaboration with the supervising neurosurgeon
• Implement therapeutic interventions where appropriate
• Exercise judgment on conditions requiring consultation or referral
• Complete patient charting within 1-2 business days per office policy

Hospital Duties

• Serve as first assistant in surgery, including closure of deep and superficial wounds
• Assist with all neurosurgical procedures, including cranial and spinal cases, instrumentation, and microscopic techniques
• Conduct daily hospital rounds, including ICU patients
• Write orders, progress notes, and admission histories and physicals
• Order appropriate imaging and diagnostic studies (MRI, CT, myelograms, bone scans, etc.)
• Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions; implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients
• Manage discharge planning and dictate discharge summaries
• Communicate inpatient status with attending and group physicians daily
• Review imaging and lab results with the attending neurosurgeon

Requirements

• TX License active and unrestricted
• BC-Neurosurgery
• BLS
