Primary Care Physician

Our Abilene client is in need of a Primary Care Physician, either an MD or DO, beginning in November. They do not have to be board certified, but must be board eligible. This position involves a case load of around 60 people, with the physician seeing approximately 5-15 patients per day for acute illness, injury, or follow-up.

Clinics will be held in the morning, with annual physicals and meetings scheduled for the afternoon. The hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with every fifth weekday on call from 8 AM to 8 AM, and on call one weekend per month. About 95% of calls are managed by telephone, with rare instances requiring a return to campus. When on call for the weekend, the physician must come in to do the Infirmary rounds (16 bed Infirmary for acute and chronic care) and hold a sick call clinic. The remainder of the time will be managed via phone.

Requirements

• Must have an absolutely clean record with no history of sanctions by the Medical Board
• Must have a current Texas License, DEA, Texas DPS Controlled Substance Certification, NPI, and CPR/BLS
• Preferably have experience treating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
