Hospitalist

We have an immediate need for two locum Hospitalists to provide internal medicine care for our veteran population at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center located in Clarksburg, WV. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on veterans' lives while experiencing the unique beauty of the Mid Appalachians.

Job Description

• Provide direct inpatient care (95% of time)
• Admit and manage hospitalized patients
• Participate in code and rapid response teams
• Perform history and physicals, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment
• Perform procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis)
• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up
• Attend quality improvement meetings
• Complete documentation in VA's EHR (CPRS)
• Report patient safety incidents within 24 hours
• Comply with VA policies on privacy, ethics, and infection control
• Ensure continuous coverage, including during absences
• Provide replacement within 2 hours if a scheduled provider is unavailable
• Maintain a contingency plan for staffing changes

Requirements

• Must have completed a residency in Internal Medicine
• Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board in Internal Medicine

Hours & Schedule

Typically, 12-hour shifts, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.

• BLS - American Heart Association (AHA) required
