    Hematologist / Oncologist

    We have an immediate need for two locum Hematologists / Oncologists for our veteran population at the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI. These roles offer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans' lives while experiencing the beauty of the Northeast.

    Job Description

    • Obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
    • Approximate clinical load:
      • 5 hours of inpatient coverage per week
      • 26 hours of bookable clinical time per week
      • Remaining time dedicated to clinical follow-up and other assigned tasks such as tumor board discussions
      • For bookable clinical time, approximate case load is 2 patients per hour.
    • Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Hematology-Oncology clinical patients.
    • Provide notification of test results for patients receiving care.

    Requirements

    • Must have completed a residency and be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Medical Oncology Board.
    • One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state.
    • Current DEA.
    • BLS - American Heart Association (AHA) required and ACLS.
    • Current CV without any gaps over 30 days since completion of medical school - written explanations are accepted.
    • Three current references.

    Hours & Schedule

    Standard Administrative Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (excluding federal holidays). Specific clinic times to be identified upon start of assignment. On-call hours required.
