Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
A comprehensive multi-services organization in New York is currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join one of their growing facilities in Westchester County.
Job Description
- Setting: Article 16 Clinic
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm
- Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)
- EMR: PrecisionCare
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will:
- Review medical records and verify MDs orders and the Occupational Therapist's assessment prior to implementing OT treatment
- Communicate with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, etc.
- Confer with Physician and other Healthcare Practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services
- Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation, which is outcome-oriented and details the persons receiving services needs, potential to benefit from treatment, and progress achieved to date
- Provide training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs
- Participate and attend care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services
- Implement a treatment plan, including ROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities
- Handle other duties, as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant school
- NYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
- Knowledge in the use of mobility devices and therapeutic exercises
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills
- Experience with wheelchair assessment
- Experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
