Cardiothoracic Surgeon

I am working with Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN, and they are looking for some locum tenens CT Surgery coverage over the next several months.

Job Description

• Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN, is an Allina Health System facility with 271 beds and a Level 2 Trauma Center.
• This facility is looking for locum tenens Cardiothoracic Surgery coverage starting March 2026 and ongoing.
• Shift times: M-F 7 AM - 5 PM.
• Weeknight and weekend call is 1:3.
• Call weeks include the day shift (7 AM - 5 PM), weeknight call (5 PM - 7 AM), and 24-hour call on the weekend.
• The facility needs full-time coverage, but the following dates are of high priority:
  • March 16-22
  • March 30 - April 5
  • April 20-26
  • May 4-10
• The minimum assignment length is 1-2 weeks per month, but candidates that can cover any of the above stints will get first consideration.
• The group sees predominantly routine cases such as CABs and valves.
• Expected case volumes include:
  • CABs/Valves/etc: 250
  • Standbys: TAVR: 200
  • Clips: 100
  • Lead extractions: 35
• Candidates can also expect to see the following surgeries and procedures:
  • Aortic aneurysms
  • Aortic dissections
  • Atrial fibrillation surgery
  • Cardiac valve repair and replacement
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Congenital heart surgery
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Esophageal surgery (minimally invasive)
  • Heart failure surgery
  • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) surgery
  • Minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery
  • Pacemaker
  • Thoracoscopic surgery
  • TAVR/Structural Heart
• Oncology lung cases will go to another facility.
• No electrophysiology cases.

Requirements

• Ideal candidate should be proficient in cardiothoracic and vascular procedures, but flexibility will be considered in their determination.
• 45-60 days to privilege.

Compensation

• $360 per hour with a 10-hour guarantee M-F.
• $450 per night for weeknight call.
• $3200 per 24-hour call on Saturday/Sunday.
• $432 per hour for any hour worked over the 10-hour guarantee M-F or any hour worked while on call in the facility during weeknight or weekend 24-hour call.
