Job Description

• Procedures required: ERCP, EGD, Colonoscopy, Stents
• Rounding details: It takes approximately 4-5 hours to complete rounds.
• On-call information: Expected number of call-backs during a 24-hour period: 0-1; Estimated calls received while on call: 5
• Patient load details: Expected patient encounters per day: 10-15

Requirements

• An active license is required.
• Temporary privileges are available.
• The credentialing process takes approximately 90 days.
• Board certification is required.
• Providers with IMLC are not allowed.

Specialty Skills in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology

• Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, and fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser)
• Injection of varices
• ERCP: Diagnostic and Therapeutic
• PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy)
• Esophageal dilatation/manometry and interpretation
• Small bowel biopsy
• Lower GI endoscopy
• Sigmoidoscopy: Flexible and Rigid
• Colonoscopy with biopsy and excision of polyp
• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Liver biopsy
• Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
