    Navy Hospital Corpsman

    Navy Hospital Corpsmen provide treatment for thousands of Sailors and Marines, using quick thinking to help keep them fit and ready to serve at the best of their abilities. They may assist Navy Physicians and Dentists with surgeries, specialize in radiology, search and rescue, optical or preventive medicine, transport the sick and injured to safe quarters, and operate some of the world's most sophisticated medical and dental equipment.

    Requirements

    • A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor in the medical support field in the Navy
    • Must be U.S. citizens with a sincere interest in providing general health care
    • Ability to relate well to other people and work as part of a team
    • Good communication skills, writing and arithmetic ability, manual dexterity, and a good memory
    • Dependable, trustworthy, resourceful, with a background or interest in the sciences
    • Competence with tools, equipment/machines, physical stamina, and the ability to do repetitive tasks without losing interest
    • Any illegal involvement with drugs may be disqualifying

    General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before, or whether you've never served before.
