    The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

    Starship Apollo provides care for infants and children with acute and chronic respiratory diagnoses such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, and respiratory syncytial virus. This 36-bed unit has 14 rooms with central monitors, to closely monitor patients with increased needs for respiratory support and intervention. Nursing and respiratory care practitioners collaborate in the care of patients on Apollo.

    Job Description

    • Provide competent nursing care to patients.
    • Coordinate the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
    • Collaborate with nursing and respiratory care practitioners in the care of patients.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor's Degree; BSN strongly preferred.
    • An active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN).
    • Life Support Certifications:
      • HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
      • Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position.
    • Experience to correlate with Clinical Ladder level.
    • Bilingual skills desirable.

    Position Details

    Full Time, 69 hours per pay period, various shifts may be available.
