    Nursing Position

    This position is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

    The Emergency Department at Valley Children's provides emergency pediatric and trauma care to infants, children, and adolescents (up to 21 years of age). We operate a 39-bed Level II Pediatric Trauma Center that sees about 120,000 patient visits annually. More than two-thirds of the Hospital's patients are admitted through the Emergency Department. We have access to all of the Hospital's pediatric subspecialties and their associated physicians.

    The Department is staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. In addition to their years of experience in providing pediatric emergency care, our emergency specialists have undergone a minimum of three years of general pediatric training plus an additional two to three years of fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine.

    Job Description

    • Provide competent nursing care and coordinate the patient's plan of care.
    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions.
    • Work under the direction of the designated nurse executive.

    Requirements

    • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN strongly preferred.
    • Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN).
    • Life Support Certifications:
      • HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
      • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months.
      • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months.
      • Emergency Nursing Pediatrics Course (ENPC) within 36 months of hire or transfer into position.
      • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 36 months of hire or transfer into position.
    • Experience to correlate with Clinical Ladder level.
    • Bilingual skills desirable.

    Position Details

    Full Time, 69 hours per pay period, various shifts may be available.
