Job Description
- The Radiologic Technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic Imaging procedures on patients of all ages to provide physicians with data for diagnostic purposes.
- Works under the direction of a Radiologist or Manager.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Demonstrates sound knowledge in the performance of Diagnostic Imaging while adhering to department protocol and standards and applies the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Performs Diagnostic Imaging exams in a variety of settings. Evaluates images for technical quality, performs post-processing of data, and ensures proper patient identification is recorded.
- Provides optimal patient care and assumes responsibility for the patient's needs during their procedures, exemplifying the philosophy of Patient Family Centered Care.
- Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care and identifies and responds to emergency situations in an appropriate manner.
- Strictly adheres to the principles of aseptic technique and hand washing policies.
- Assists the Radiologist with procedures and protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Requirements
- Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT R - ARRT Radiography
- BLS I - Basic Life Support Instructor or BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support
Required Minimum Skills
- Ability to operate Diagnostic Imaging equipment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Possess excellent patient/customer service skills.
