**About the Facility**

The Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is a Level 1 tertiary referral center with a 24-hour Emergency Room located in the heart of the Land of Enchantment. The medical center is authorized to operate 310 beds, which include 184 acute hospital beds (including a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Center), 90 residential rehabilitation treatment program beds (including a 26-bed Psychosocial Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, a 24-bed Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, and a 40-bed Domiciliary RRTP), and a 36-bed Nursing Home Care Unit. The NMVAHCS is a proud member of the Veterans Integrated Service Network.

**Job Description**

- Provide Hematology/Oncology care, including diagnosis, evaluation, and management of various disease conditions related to Hematological and Oncological diseases or coagulopathies.
- Perform clinical procedures such as bone marrow biopsies with microscopic evaluation, prescription of chemotherapy and other cancer agents, and other duties as assigned, within the latest standards of evidence-based practice.
- Provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
- Be on-call to evaluate and treat Hematologist/Oncologist consults, clinic, and chemotherapy patients.
- Extensive inpatient and outpatient teaching of medical students and medical residents is required.
