- Establish facility-wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases of residents, staff, and visitors.
- Develop and implement written policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice and recognized guidelines for infection prevention and control.
- Oversee the facility's antibiotic stewardship program.
- Oversee resident care activities that increase risk of infection (i.e., use and care of urinary catheters, wound care, incontinence care, skin care).
- Lead the facility's Infection and Prevention Control Committee.
- Develop action plans to address opportunities for improvement.
- Participate on the facility's QAA Committee.
- Implement an annual infection control risk assessment process and participate in the facility's annual assessment review process.
- Review and/or revise the facility's infection prevention and control program annually and as needed for changes to ensure effectiveness.
- Provide education to staff, residents, and families (where appropriate).
- Ensure public health is notified of reportable diseases.
- Collaborate with other departments in fulfilling requirements related to occupational health and safety (i.e., employee health).
- Maintain documentation of infection prevention and control program activities.
- Inform the DON of the individual needs of the Staff Development functions as it relates to budgeting.
- Assist the DON in assessing needs for resident care equipment during budget preparation.
- Promote compliance throughout the facility.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement (QAPI) activities established by the organization by identifying areas for improvement in resident care processes.
- Prepare concise and timely QAPI reports as required.
- Develop educational programs based on needs identified through QAPI activities.
- Attend local professional educator's meetings and Bethesda monthly meetings.
- Set individual goals and review with the DON.

**Requirements**

- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- BSN or related baccalaureate preparation in education preferred
- Current RN license in the state that you will be working
- CPR/AED certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- Certified as a CPR instructor is highly desirable
- Certified as an Instructor for the Missouri Nurse Assistant Training program and CMT instructor certification preferred
