**Cardiac Sonographer**

**Job Description**

- Performs echocardiograms, assists with TEEs, and stress echocardiograms.
- Rotating call (typically 1 day a week and weekend coverage every 4th-5th weekend).
- Performs ECG services; Holter monitor analysis and report generation; cardiac event monitor setup; ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; cardiac stress testing.
- Outreach responsibilities include Holter and cardiac event monitor.
- Performs ECGs, explains procedures to patients, uses proper electrode placement, obtains good tracings, and becomes a super user for EKG software system, including matching orders to exams, fixing incorrect exams, and being a resource for outreach facilities.
- Performs Holter monitor duties, verifies orders, educates patients on the use of Holter monitors and diaries, hooks up with proper lead placement, scans Holter monitors, and compiles tests for physician interpretation. Supports outreach Holter monitor service, hookup, and enrollment of event monitor patients.
- Performs stress testing technical duties using proper electrode placement and equipment setup. Documents ongoing patient assessment.
- Performs ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, runs reports, and delivers to reading physician.
- Notifies appropriate physician when test results indicate immediate intervention is necessary.
- Carries out appropriate billing procedures.
- Assists with orientation and on-the-job training.
- Transports patients (via wheelchair, stretcher, or as an escort when the patient is ambulatory) to and from clinical, ancillary, and support department areas. Transfers patients from wheelchair or stretcher to procedure room carts.

**Requirements**

- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 year.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 1 year.

**Sonographer**

Avera St. Luke's Hospital is looking for a Sonographer to join our team! This position may be eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus.

**Job Description**

- Responsible for performing transthoracic echoes and vascular ultrasound exams, applying Holter and Event monitors, and performing EKGs on patients of all ages as ordered.
- Produces accurate and efficient clinical diagnostic images as directed by providers and/or radiologists according to established standards and protocols.
- Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring provider when test indicates immediate attention.
- Reviews appropriate indications for tests ordered and contacts provider for more information when needed, reporting inappropriate indications to leadership.
- Provides test data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to the reading radiologist for interpretation. Makes hard copy images as directed.
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.
- Assists with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation.
- Assists with analysis, collection, and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.
- Assists medical records reconciliation of signed orders to performed exams through daily QC.

**Requirements**

- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ultrasound Technologist - American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent registration upon hire.
- New graduates must have initial registry within 1 year of hire.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Vascular experience recommended.
