**Job Description**

- First assist the OBGYN in surgical procedures
- Round on patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Provide quality care for patients in the hospital
- Assist with consults, admissions, and discharges in the emergency department and hospital
- Take comprehensive history and perform physical examinations
- Evaluate and treat based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results
- Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers and consult with attending or collaborating physicians
- Document and bill for direct care provided
- Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
- Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
- Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
- Maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs as required by applicable policies and state law

**Requirements**

- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN
- At least 1 year of surgical first assist APP experience
- APRN must have Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Certification

**Licensure and Certifications**

- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to the first day

**Physical Requirements**

Continuous requirements include performing job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected. Frequently lift, lower, push, pull, and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted.
