**Work Schedule**

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Ideally seeking a candidate to staff the clinic Monday - Friday; however, the clinic is able to support some flexibility.

**Requirements**

- Possesses a thorough understanding of theory and practices of dentistry, acquired through graduating from an accredited four-year Bachelor of Dental Hygiene program or a two-year Associates in Dental Hygiene program.
- Maintains active license through the State of Michigan to practice dental hygiene.

**Primary Accountability**

Responsible for assisting the dental providers with the provision of high-quality, preventive patient-centered primary oral health care to InterCare's target populations.

**Description of Primary Duties & Responsibilities**

- Provides efficient and effective patient preventive care according to the adopted clinical standards.
- Seats the patient and prepares patients for treatment, including blood pressures, pulse, and patient identification.
- Provides preventative treatment, including caries risk assessment, periodontal assessment, prophylaxis, applying sealants and fluoride treatments, and taking radiographs under the supervision of the dentist.
- Provides understandable and complete instructions for procedures done, using diverse learning techniques, and documentation of the patient's understanding.
- Regularly attends site and assigned meetings.
- Returns phone messages and e-mails in a timely manner.

- Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear effective manner.
- Possesses excellent cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to communicate with staff members at all levels.

**Physical Demands**

Job duties are performed in the typical office environment of the organization, which requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following:

- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, frequently sit, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms & hands, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and manipulate (using keyboard, office equipment, dental equipment).
- Visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material; regularly required to talk and hear.
