- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Review normal and abnormal diagnostic tests and take appropriate action according to the individual’s scope of practice. Participate in research by serving as a Primary Investigator or Sub-Investigator in clinical trials and registries.
  
- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient’s record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
  
- Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Obtain written patient consents and communicate with experts as needed.
  
- Carry out therapeutic procedures; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain a record of each patient’s progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient’s progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
  
- Make diagnoses and formulate a treatment plan for patients. Perform patient education on their disease state, as well as healthy living recommendations. Conduct follow-up exams after procedures, hospitalizations, surgeries, etc.
  
- Provide clinical expertise and serve as a resource for office clinical staff in the physician’s absence.

**Requirements**

- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing, or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
  
- Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia or licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, WHNP). Updated NCCPA for PAs required.
  
- CPR/ACLS certification; ACLS required within 6 months of hire date.
