**Registered Nurse - Critical Care**

Join our team as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting, where you will provide direct and indirect patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.

**Job Description**

- Provides direct and indirect patient care in a critical care setting
- Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology
- Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
- Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision
- Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs
- Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition
- Follows the six medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors
- Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interprets the results
- Formulates an individualized plan of care, revises the plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluates the overall plan daily for effectiveness
- Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population
- Assesses and reassesses pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating the patient and family regarding pain management
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and treats appropriately based on age-appropriate ACLS protocol
- Provides care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management
- Assists physicians with procedures both in the ICU and other departments
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served
- Interprets data about the patient's status to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide necessary care
- Assesses and cares for patients in the post-anesthesia period both in the PACU and ICU
- Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care

**Non-Essential Functions**

- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment
- Responsible for minor housekeeping as needed

- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times

- Completes annual education, OSHA, and infection control requirements; maintains regulatory requirements

- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives
- Communicates and adheres to ES1, Mission and Vision, Core Values, Code of Conduct, Professional Appearance Standards, Ethics, and Goals of the facility
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time
- Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

**Qualifications**

**Education**

- Associates Degree in Nursing, Required
- Bachelors Degree, Preferred

**Required Licenses/Certifications**

- Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required within 90 days of hire or transfer
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required within 90 days of hire or transfer
- Handle With Care Behavior Management System (HWC) Certification, required within 90 days of hire or transfer
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), recommended
