**Job Description**

- The Pulmonologist, at the level specified, with a minimum of 8-hour notice by the VA of specific tours required, to perform pulmonary services, including providing intensive care/critical care services and inpatient/outpatient services for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Salisbury VA Medical Center (Salisbury VAMC).
- Performs procedures such as thoracentesis, central line placement, arterial line placements, bronchoscopies, bedside bronchoscopies, intubation procedures, patient rounding, bedside echo, and PFT interpretations. Additional skill sets such as sleep study interpretations and EBUS procedures may be supported.
- Provides inpatient consultation. Pulmonologist(s) shall be available for consultative care 24/7 for all inpatient care. All consultations requested before 4:30 pm shall be resolved on the same calendar day, except for weekends. The contract physician(s) shall be reachable by pager or other telecommunication device(s), at the request of a referring physician, to discuss a patient's case to ensure the patient is seen in a timely fashion and to expedite any required care.
- Provides on-call services. At least eight (8) weekdays a month and one (1) weekend a month.
- Shall provide review of consults and triaging daily.
- Medications: Contractor physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
