**Staff Nurse - Emergency Department**

Join our dynamic team as a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department at Doctor's Community Medical Center in Lanham, MD. This position is part of the Weekend Plan and requires night shifts. Under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, you will be responsible and accountable for the total direct and indirect comprehensive delivery of nursing care to patients of all ages, including newborns, infants, pediatrics, psychiatric, emergency, oncology, critical care, and medical/surgical patients.

**Job Description**

- Is accountable for own actions and demonstrates sound critical thinking skills.
- Assesses health care needs of patients using appropriate resources and standards in a timely manner.
- Communicates written and verbal reports accurately, keeping charge nurse and physicians informed.
- Upholds standards of confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality care services for special age-specific populations, such as pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Documents all pertinent data correctly and within the required time frame.
- Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care and documents findings in progress notes.
- Administers nursing care competently consistent with policies and procedures, completing all assignments and observing performance.
- Participates in programs designed to increase the effectiveness of nursing practice by attending at least 75% of staff meetings per year and demonstrating compliance with information presented.
- Prioritizes patient care according to the needs of individual patients and the unit.
- Completes assignments according to hospital standards and within appropriate time frames.
- Maintains a safe environment by responding to unusual events immediately.
