Inpatient Psychiatry - Correctional Medicine Under the direction of the Director of Mental Health Services, this position provides direct psychiatric care to offenders assigned to inpatient facilities within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : <ul><li> Provides direct psychiatric care to assigned patients. </li><li> May participate in civil commitment proceedings for mentally ill patients being released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). </li><li> Conducts psychiatric, physical and neurological examinations on assigned patients. </li><li> Provides clinical supervision to psychiatric mid level practitioners as assigned by the clinical director. </li><li> Conducts and participates in due process proceedings for voluntary admission and compelled psychoactive medication. </li><li> Works all assigned hours and complies with timekeeping regulations. </li><li> Participates in psychiatry QI/QM program. </li><li> Provides emergency psychiatric call. </li><li> Works effectively with all CMS and UR processes and personnel. </li><li> Adheres to internal controls established for department. </li><li> Performs related duties as required. </li></ul> WORK ENVIRONMENT : Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center.
