**Job Description**

- Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
- May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s).
- Works as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Prepares patients for procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of current MRI safety practices and utilizes such as part of daily practice.
- Assumes responsibility for persons entering Zones I-IV.
- Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Applies principles and policies of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
- Reviews patients' clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range, reviewing with radiologist and/or provider as necessary.
- Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Reports and documents MRI safety incidents/adverse events per protocol.
- Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort.
- Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
- Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
- Starts and maintains intravenous access, including power injectable implanted ports/specialized lines.
- Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
- Operates MRI scanner, associated equipment, and power injector to produce cross-section images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposes.
- Documents all information pertinent to MRI procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
- Verifies consent/screening form for all entering Zone IV.
- Prepares and administers contrast media orally and intravenously maintaining aseptic technique.
- Assists the physician with interventional procedures.
- Provides practical instruction to students and partners.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality.
- Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
- Ability to perform independent high-level MRI studies such as but not limited to; all cardiac studies, run-offs, conditional device protocols, and MRI procedural studies.
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
- Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, archives, and submits images for physician review and interpretation.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary.

**Requirements**

- Graduate of an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program.
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years experience preferred. Will consider new graduates.
