**Licensed Practical Nurse I**

**Job Description**

- Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following demonstration of working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs under the direction of a provider and within the framework of the office policies and procedures.
- Assists providers during office visits and in-office procedures as needed.
- Preps exam rooms for clinical procedures and assists practitioners with patient care.
- Performs accurate measurement of vital signs, including orthostatic blood pressure, temperature, pulse, body weight, height, and completes appropriate health history questions.
- Records medications, allergies, pertinent lab work, pharmacy, and primary care provider in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Conducts EKGs and wound care/dressing changes.
- Provides patient education.
- Administers injections and manages immunizations.
- Handles prior authorizations and population health care gap closure.
- Prints daily remote transmissions for cardiac devices.
- Completes components for event monitors and NODS.
- Prepares and administers medications under the direction of supervising physicians.
- Follows standing orders as directed by department policies (i.e., UA, Flu, Strep tests).
- Administers PO medications under direct supervision of the physician.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains exam rooms and clinic areas.
- Notifies patients of lab results.
- Assists patients by answering phone calls and refilling medications at the direction of the physician.
- Makes referrals to other departments and clinics to coordinate patient care.
- Disinfects exam rooms in-between patients.
- Performs delegated procedures common to the specialty area in a safe, effective manner according to policy and procedures.

**Requirements**

- Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure: Must be registered with NCBON and in good standing.
- Experience in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) software required.
- Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
- Ability to actively listen.
- Ability to observe and draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English.
- Ability to spell, proofread, and edit written text.

**Other Duties**

- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Keeps management informed of high-risk situations.
- Demonstrates appropriate use in cleaning of equipment.
- Practices infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Attends fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
