Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess their physical, cognitive, and functional abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and goals.
- Use a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities to address patient needs, including exercises, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology.
- Provide training on the use of adaptive equipment and techniques to support patient independence.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Adhere to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, following infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to occupational therapy assistants as needed.
- Manage and maintain therapeutic equipment and supplies, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of occupational therapy services.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by either the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
- Hold a valid State Occupational Therapy License.
