    Family Medicine Provider

    Location: James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)

    Job Description:

    • Provide full spectrum Family Medicine care encompassing outpatient clinical and procedural services.
    • Deliver care in a cost-effective manner focusing on patient-centered evidence-based outcomes.
    • Collaborate with staff and other clinical departments to facilitate excellent patient care.
    • Participate fully as a member of the 99 MDG medical staff.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide routine general family medicine care, including preventive medicine, acute and chronic patient conditions, musculoskeletal conditions, pediatrics, and women's health.
    • Complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of the patient encounter.
    • Attend and participate in meetings and professional staff conferences, including quality improvement and professional staff meetings.
    • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
    • Maintain coding accuracy (CPT/E&M/procedure) at 90% or higher.
    • Familiarize with Department of Defense (DoD), Federal, State, non-profit healthcare systems, and organizations.

    Educational Responsibilities:

    • Provide ongoing education programs to promote, protect, and maintain optimum wellness levels.
    • Offer health counseling to patients and their families, developing a plan for health maintenance based on individual needs.
    • Instruct, coach, mentor, and train medical residents, physician assistant students, and other healthcare students through clinical rotations, didactics, and outpatient discussions.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain statistical records of clinical workload, participate in medical education programs, and engage in quality improvement functions.
    • Participate in telehealth and virtual encounters, responding to telephone consults and secure messages according to pertinent AFIs and local policies.
    • Consult with other specialty practitioners for opinions and continuation of care.
    • Ensure productivity meets Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) standards.

    Requirements:

    • Possess sufficient knowledge of current TRICARE standards, population-based healthcare, disease management, medically-oriented computer systems, and trends in prevention.
    • Ensure patient and staff safety through safety awareness, proper infection control, and promotion of a clean, orderly clinic environment.
    • Develop and direct long-term management strategies, providing clinical and administrative leadership and expertise.
    • Coordinate patient care with community health agencies and social programs to facilitate continuity of care.
