    Staff Nurse

    Join our team as a Staff Nurse providing nursing care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. This position is part-time (24 hours per week) and onsite for the Boardman Emergency Department, with shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM.

    Job Description

    • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
    • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status.
    • Perform leadership and professional duties.
    • Provide patient-centered care.
    • Conduct quality improvement and safety duties.
    • Participate in the development of education for staff members on clinically related issues; may be responsible for precepting new employees and acting as a mentor to clinical staff.
    • Engage in evidence-based practice duties.
    • Support the provider staff and actively promote collaboration for efficient operation and quality care, ensuring legendary customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach.
    • Perform systems-based practice duties.
    • Carry out informatics and technology duties.
    • Be temporarily assigned to an area throughout the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise based on patient needs requiring similar knowledge and skill.
    • Other duties as required.

    • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
    • Experience working with an electronic medical record system (i.e., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.

    Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within 5 years from the date of hire.
    • Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be required based on the assigned department or unit.
    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
