Job Description

• Work under the direction of a qualified professional nurse, participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Communicate and collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, administration, clinicians, dietitians, and milieu personnel.
• Ensure high client safety standards and maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of clients under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
• Assist in relevant health and psychiatric teaching for clients and families.
• Share responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans.
• Effectively communicate with medical staff, receiving verbal/written orders while minimizing errors.
• Prepare, administer, control, and accurately record medications in accordance with facility policies.
• Observe, document, and report any clinical or personnel issues that could alter client care.
• Safely perform vital signs, electrocardiograms, phlebotomy/labs, and diabetic/glucose monitoring.

Requirements

• One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Valid current nursing license from the state or from a nurse compact state.
• CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
