System Director of Behavioral Health Nursing
Job Description:
- Act as the organization's subject-level expert on Behavioral Health nursing, and advise other organizational and community stakeholders on the importance and efficacy of Behavioral Health nursing interventions.
- In collaboration with Behavioral Health Medical, Clinical and Administrative leadership, develop, optimize and oversee the organization's inpatient behavioral health clinical operations.
- Standardize Behavioral Health nursing staffing ratios across the organization's inpatient psychiatry beds, ensuring staffing is appropriately flexed up and down, based on census and acuity.
- Standardize Behavioral Health nursing practice across all inpatient units, to ensure the highest level of patient care, system-wide.
- Develop and operationalize a Behavioral Health nurse/tech float program.
- Work with local CNO's and Psych Nursing Directors and Managers to operationalize system-wide Behavioral Health nursing initiatives.
- Lead nursing/tech/sitter recruitment and retention efforts for the service-line.
- Assist in strategic planning and complete budget activities.
- Use outcome and financial data to develop proposals and business plans that align with the mission/vision of the service-line.
- Use regulatory and compliance standards in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
- Develop programs and proposals which include supportive data, cost/benefit analysis, and evaluation plans.
- Participate in departmental coverage to maintain adequate staffing and ensure continuity of care.
- Function as part of the management team and assist in strategic planning.
- Maintain an integrated services system focusing on patient recovery, collaboration, and a collaborative approach.
- Work directly with clinical and non-clinical staff in resolving patient problems and service issues.
- Ensure a high level of satisfaction from patients.
- Provide leadership in communicating a customer-focused environment and service excellence throughout the organization.
- Demonstrate a collaborative management style to support clinical functions.
- Collaborate with administrators, physicians, service line leaders, and others.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through various professional development activities.
- Available to take administrative calls and work varied hours.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required.
- Master's Degree strongly preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, etc.). If the candidate does not have a Master's degree, must be able to earn a Master's degree within 30 months of hire.
- 5+ years of Behavioral Health Nursing experience required.
- 3 years in nursing leadership, highly preferred.
- Current unencumbered Kentucky or West Virginia compact nursing licensure (or eligibility to do so).
- BLS upon hire.
- CPI within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS if Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) services are to be offered at any inpatient psychiatric location.
- Knowledge of behavioral health services management, program development, fiscal management skills, and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards preferred.
