Nurse Manager RN/LPN
Our Nurse Manager RN/LPN (Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse) for weekends manages and coordinates the provision of clinical nursing service to residents in licensed and unlicensed areas. Since we have a lower than average nurse to resident ratio, we strongly encourage our nurses to develop a good rapport with the residents. Building excellent relationships is a standard at Arbor Acres.
Job Description
- Reports to the Director of Nursing.
- Direct management of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Med Techs, and Medical Unit Secretaries.
- Provides clinical expertise and guidance to ensure quality of nursing care to residents and enforces safe work procedures by participating in manager on-call rotation.
- Monitors residents' condition and reports daily to the Director of Nursing. Performs nursing rounds on assigned units.
- Provides assessment of residents and arranges for the provision of necessary nursing care or other professional services in both licensed and non-licensed areas.
- Implements daily staff assignments.
- Coordinates the admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents, both within the total facility and to outside agencies.
- Supervises transcription and verification of physicians' orders.
- Monitors medication administration and treatments.
- Performs various routine nursing procedures as needed.
- Participates in scheduling of nursing employees, including staff relief coverage.
- Participates in in-service training for nursing services, as assigned.
- Monitors medical record charting by nursing staff.
- Participates in the orientation, interviewing, performance appraisal, and disciplinary guidance for nursing personnel as requested.
- Monitors Control Drug Stock.
- Oversees the accurate and timely completion of monthly summaries.
- Oversees the accurate and timely completion of incident reports.
- Accompanies physician on resident rounds and documents visits.
- Coordinates the accurate and timely completion of weights and vital signs.
- Oversees documentation audits in assigned areas.
- Implements timely and accurate completion of AIMS monitors.
- Maintains acuity lists including residents requiring wound care, O2, feeding tubes, catheters, etc. Updates routinely and provides Nursing Director with updated lists as requested.
- Participates in and approves resident assessments; participates in and assists in the coordination of resident care planning and resident/family conferences.
- Serves as back-up to the emergency nurse responder, assessing and providing appropriate emergency care to independent and assisted living residents as needed.
Requirements
- At least three to five years of experience in patient care.
- At least one year of experience in a long-term care setting.
- License to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of North Carolina.
- Must have a valid and active North Carolina Driver's license.
Typical Physical Demands
- Ability to walk up to 20 minutes at a time in order to transverse campus.
- Considerable hearing ability in order to perceive the nature of sounds and medical equipment.
- Frequent walking, bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, and carrying.
- Able to see and read newsprint sized letters in order to make visual assessments of residents.
- Possible exposure to airborne pathogens, blood borne pathogens, odors, toxic chemicals, and fumes.
- Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 30 lbs. is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete the WorkSTEPS Functional Testing program. This program assists in determining whether applicants/employees are able to safely perform essential job functions.
