    Job Title: Women's Health Specialist

    Job Description:

    • Test, treat, diagnose, and monitor disorders and illnesses related to women's health and their reproductive systems.
    • Perform exams and procedures, counsel patients, and treat women through their entire pregnancy terms, during childbirth, and into postpartum.
    • Provides care following medically acceptable treatment regimens using evidence-based medicine.

    Responsibilities:

    • Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis.
    • Perform well-women exams that include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams.
    • Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition.
    • Counsel patients on safe sex practices and preventative medicine practices.
    • Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including prenatal advising up to delivery and postnatal care.
    • Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc., to effectively diagnose a problem.
    • Direct, advise, and supervise women's health medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, med techs, etc., on proper procedures and protocol.
    • Continue personal education on current medical practices and innovations by reading medical journals, attending conferences, etc.
    • Evaluate, examine, and treat patients within the scope of practice deemed appropriate by center-affiliated professional organizations.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
    • Take after-hour calls.
    • Obtain privileges at local hospital(s).
    • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

    Requirements:

    • M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Completion of a four (4) year OB/GYN Residency program.
    • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina.
    • Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or Board Eligible with plans to become Board-Certified within a reasonable time period.
    • At least two (2) years practicing medicine in a hospital or outpatient setting.
    • CPR certification required.

    Skills:

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, customers, employees, and the general public.
    • Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    • Proficient at patient charting and knowledgeable in relevant charting computer programs.
    • Ability to develop and maintain personable yet professional relationships with patients and staff.

    Physical Demands:

    • The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear.
    • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
    • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop or kneel.
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
