Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the psychiatric care and treatment of clients in the outpatient setting
- Act as the collaborating Physician for Advanced Practice Providers providing outpatient services
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday; 8am to 5pm
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders, usually through medication
- Study mood, personality, and behavioral disorders
- Discuss symptoms with patients to determine a diagnosis and prescribe medication to correct chemical imbalances in the patient's brain
Essential Duties:
- Use a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, mostly by interviewing patients, their family, or other persons
- Develop a treatment plan according to the needs of the patients and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral disorder
- Direct, supervise, and provide consultation to other clinic professional staff in the implementation of treatment plans
- Treat patients using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitor the effects of any medication, and adjust treatment where necessary
- Consult with the patient's Primary Care Physician, Nurses, or other healthcare providers when needed
- Provide psychiatric consultation, evaluation, and treatment as required
- Provide crisis intervention when needed
- Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered
- Keep up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences, or maintaining professional networks
- Follow ethical and legal policies, procedures, and standards
- Discharge clients and/or assist in the closing of cases on clients under care in a timely manner
- Participate in clinic meetings and duties as required
- Assume overall responsibility for the care rendered to clients
- Ensure safe client care through appropriate planning, implementation, and evaluation procedures
- Maintain documentation as required and complete it in a timely manner according to organizational policy and regulatory requirements
- Maintain the confidential nature of client and business information
- Perform related functions as assigned
