Certified Sedation Registered Nurse (CSRN)
Join our team in Little Rock, AR, as a Certified Sedation Registered Nurse. This position is responsible for assisting the urologist, interventional radiologist, or midlevel provider by managing intraprocedural assessment, monitoring, and administration of conscious sedation.
Job Description
- Oversee nursing care of the patient and attend to quality patient care in the pre-procedural, post-procedural, and intra-procedural settings.
- Monitor the patient for improvement or decompensation and complications before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer moderate sedation medications to achieve moderate sedation as ordered under the direction of a qualified provider or attending physician.
- Verify the operative procedure using the consent form, patient statement, and if needed provider verification prior to the procedure.
- Continuously evaluate the patient's needs, plan of care, and nursing actions, adjusting the plans as required to provide optimum patient outcomes.
- Start and manage IVs during procedures.
- Assist physicians with patient management during procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, cardiac arrhythmia recognition, and complications related to moderate sedation and medications.
- Assess total patient care requirements during moderate sedation and recovery, including physiological measurements such as respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, cardiac rate and rhythm, and patient's level of consciousness.
- Anticipate and recognize potential complications of moderate sedation in relation to the type of medication being administered.
- Possess the required knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose, and intervene in the event of complications or undesired outcomes and apply nursing interventions in compliance with orders or clinical protocols or guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the legal ramifications of administering moderate sedation and/or monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation, including the RN's responsibility and liability in the event of a reaction or life-threatening complication.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program required; BSN highly preferred.
- Current Arkansas RN license required.
- Conscious Sedation Certification with at least one (1) year of experience in a procedural/surgical setting required.
- ACLS required.
