Gastroenterology Locum Coverage

Join our team for gastroenterology locum coverage in Midlothian, VA, starting February 6th. This position offers 24-hour call coverage at a daily flat rate of $3,850. A Virginia license is required.

Job Description

• Reason for coverage: Lack of coverage
• Practice setting: Hospital call (Saturday and Sunday) - weekends
• Clinical areas: Adult, Hospital, Office/Clinic
• Lab & X-Ray onsite
• Outpatient gastroenterology & internal medicine required
• EMR: Epic
• No trauma designation

• February 6-9, 13-16

Required Procedures/Duties

• Esophageal dilatation/manometry
• Esophageal manometry interpretation
• Small bowel biopsy
• Lower GI endoscopy
• Sigmoidoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Liver biopsy
• Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Upper GI endoscopy: with biopsy, with foreign body removal, with fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser), with injection of varices, with banding of varices, with ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography), diagnostic, therapeutic, with PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy)
• On average 8 procedures per weekend: GSI, Hepatology, RGA, Surgery, Colon, EGD, ERCP

Rates to Submit

• 24-hour call - flat rate (to include all call back hours)
• On-call rates: $3,850 flat rate for 24-hour on-call coverage

Requirements

• Board certified - required
• Virginia license - required
• Flu shot - required
• COVID vaccine - highly preferred
• Must be available to cover open shift to be considered - required
• Clean malpractice history required for temp privileges - required
• ERCP - required
• EUS - preferred
• Virginia's cap on medical malpractice damages increases every year by $50,000. Effective 7/01/2023 all providers are expected to have $2.6M coverage.
• A self-query NPDB report is mandatory at the time of presentation. The self-query NPDB report must be dated within 30 days of the presentation date - required.
