Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

Pediatric Locum Coverage

Seeking a Pediatrician to provide locum coverage with 24-hour call responsibilities approximately 7 days per month, including coverage needs in February and ongoing in 2026.

Job Description

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage, 7 days per month
• Coverage Needs: Second or third week of February plus ongoing coverage in 2026
• Setting: Critical Access Hospital with Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics Unit, and Level II Nursery
• Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
• EMR: Meditech

Clinical Responsibilities

• Attend vaginal deliveries when requested
• Attend scheduled and emergent C-sections
• Admit and discharge newborns
• Provide inpatient pediatric care
• Perform circumcisions

Required Procedures

• Circumcisions
• Newborn resuscitation, intubations, and UVC placement
• Lumbar punctures

Patient Volume

• Approximately 2 to 3 pediatric admissions per day

Support Services

• Nursing team including Level II nursery nurses
• Anesthesia, OB/GYNs, respiratory therapists
• Local pediatricians available for consultation
• Level III NICU support available in Bismarck, ND (approximately 90 miles away)

Program Notes

• Level II nursery; generally does not deliver infants under 36 weeks gestation
• Collaborative pediatric coverage model with Sanford Health Dickinson
• Reason for coverage: prior locum was not a good fit

Credentialing

• Emergency privileges may be available for expedited start
• Position provides services in lieu of an existing enrolled provider (60 days)

Travel

• Air travel supported
• Preferred lodging at standard hotels

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible (highly preferred)
• North Dakota medical license or IMLC (required)
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required)
• Clean malpractice history (required)
• Availability confirmed at time of name clear (required)
• NPDB self-query report required within 30 days of presentation
