    General Job Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
    • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions.
    • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and NP specialty.
    • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
    • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly.

    Requirements

    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics).
    • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Massachusetts.
    • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners AANP).
    • While specific requirements may vary, most locum NP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty.
