    Job Title: Cardiac Device Specialist

    Job Description:

    • Demonstrates knowledge of ACC guidelines for rhythm management.
    • Functions independently in complex situations, recognizing when physician notification/intervention is required.
    • Navigates patient's medical record for information pertinent to clinic visits.
    • Interrogates, programs, and troubleshoots pacemakers, ICDs, and other implantable cardiac devices according to physician-approved protocols.
    • Manages the device schedule, seeing patients every 30 minutes and generating thorough reports.
    • Arranges all aspects of follow-up for device patients.
    • Provides patient education on topics such as wound care, phone monitoring equipment, and general arrhythmia information.
    • Balances independent decision-making with the need for physician input.
    • Efficiently and accurately over-reads pacemaker and ICD telephone monitoring reports.
    • Returns patient phone calls within 8 hours, documenting instructions/explanations given.
    • Proficiently interprets ICD EGM's and arrhythmia discrimination.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of EHR.
    • Refills prescriptions accurately, following the prescription refill policy.
    • Serves as a clinical resource to non-nursing techs and non-EP nursing staff.

    Requirements:

    • Current Tennessee RN license.
    • BLS, ACLS certified.
    • Excellent knowledge of cardiac rhythms with the ability to accurately identify abnormal rhythms.
    • Previous electrophysiology cardiac experience preferred.
    • Ability to complete Device Competency Checklist.
    • Attends regular 'industry-provided' seminars.
    • NASPE certification preferred.

    Additional Requirements if not a Licensed RN:

    • Bachelor's degree along with a certificate of completion of Cardiac Rhythm Management program such as ATI.
    • BLS, ACLS certified.
    • Excellent knowledge of cardiac rhythms with the ability to accurately identify abnormal rhythms.
    • Previous electrophysiology cardiac experience preferred.
    • Ability to complete Device Competency Checklist.
    • Attends regular "industry-provided" seminars.
    • NASPE certification preferred.
