Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Join our team at Kent Campus Hospital as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. This full-time position offers a dynamic work environment with variable shifts, where you will administer anesthesia to patients of all ages undergoing a variety of surgical, obstetric, or diagnostic procedures in collaboration with an anesthesiologist.
Job Description
- Collect and prepare materials needed for a specific procedure within 15 minutes of completion of the prior case. Perform daily equipment checks to ensure proper functioning.
- Conduct a thorough pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient and accompanying chart for each procedure; ensure that appropriate tests have been completed and findings/results are documented on the patient's chart.
- Obtain and verify that informed consent has been obtained by a qualified provider; ensure all results are logged on the patient's chart. Participate in full-stop and time-out procedures.
- Formulate and document a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care based on pre-anesthetic assessment, problem analysis, anticipated surgical procedure, current anesthesia principles, and anesthetic recommendations. Communicate and discuss these plan results with the attending anesthesiologist.
- Induce and maintain anesthesia at required levels during the procedure, as defined by the patient-specific plan and in accordance with defined standards.
- Conduct continuous and vigilant clinical observation of the patient's physiologic condition as appropriate for the type of anesthesia used. Document all activity, including any omissions of standards and the reasons stated on the patient's anesthesia record.
- Notify the attending anesthesiologist at the start and completion of every case and if the patient-specific plan of anesthesia is altered before or during a procedure.
- Audit the patient's medical record to ensure complete documentation of pertinent information, including all interventions and patient responses.
- Assess the patient's status to determine when it is safe to transfer the responsibility of care to other qualified providers. Complete discharge documentation and record hand-off of the patient on the anesthesia record.
- Maintain infection prevention standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia Practice
- Credentials: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support
Experience
- Required: None
- Preferred: 2 or more years' experience as a CRNA. Active member of the AANA, DANA, and DNA.
Preferred Education and Credential
- Education: Doctorate Degree in Nurse Anesthesia Practice
