Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill, are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures, and nursing philosophy.
Job Description
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on the best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence which include practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
- Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Education: Nursing Diploma; must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university.
- Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; ACLS/PALS may be required per manager's direction and timeframe. Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe indicated during the interview.
- Experience: Required experience in relevant specialty preferred.
Preferred Education, Credential(s), and Experience
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Credential(s): Certification related to the position, if applicable.
