Job Description:
- Aid in the performance of diagnostic procedures under the direct supervision of a registered, credentialed Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Review consultation requests, checking for special instructions from requesting physician and consult with the Radiologist as necessary.
- Complete all departmental processes for resulting and documentation of exams.
- Greet patients pleasantly, confirming their identification and introducing yourself.
- Completely explain examination procedures to the patient and their family if present.
- Demonstrate a complete working knowledge of all equipment located within the Nuclear Medicine department.
- Prepare, calibrate, document accurately and administer radiopharmaceuticals for administration by injection, ingestion, and inhalation methods.
- Perform in vivo and in vitro diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures according to established protocols.
- Maintain a daily activities log.
- Ensure appropriate storage and ordering of supplies for the Nuclear Medicine area.
- Monitor and report supplies in shortage and special order items.
- Perform visual preventive safety inspections and conduct daily quality assurance tests on all equipment.
- Identify any problems and communicate to the immediate supervisor.
- Evaluate recorded images for technical quality and demonstrate anatomy under investigation through proper positioning.
- Provide radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to prescribed safety standards and effectively operate radiation detection equipment.
- Recognize emergency situations, initiate code procedures and administer first aid or CPR as needed.
- Assure access to care and coordinate efforts with other departments for add-on exams.
- Verify correct order entry and supply charging.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent.
- Must complete Point of Care testing training as part of General Orientation.
Competencies:
- Clear communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members.
- Capability to withstand crisis situations.
- Customer service skills for patients, team members and visitors.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Records.
Credentials:
- BLS - Basic Life Saving certification.
- ARRT-N OR CNMT Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Education:
- Associate's Degree in related field.
Salary:
- Entry: USD $33.12/Hr.
- Expert: USD $51.34/Hr.
