    Job Description:

    • The RCP II is a mid-level practice RCP, with basic assessment and therapeutic skills in multiple patient populations, and advanced assessment/skills in select areas or age groups.
    • Routinely performs and interacts as a professional, handling most circumstances that may arise pertaining to respiratory care with minimal supervision.
    • Administers respiratory care therapeutics, diagnostic services, and leads team members when assigned charge with skill and proficiency.
    • Integrates knowledge, skills, and experience to promote optimum care for the patient.

    Responsibilities:

    • Consistently performs clinical assessments of pulmonary system with precision and accuracy.
    • Administers respiratory therapeutic interventions with high proficiency, and minimal-to-no-supervision.
    • Establishes and manages mechanical ventilation with most commonly used ventilators with high proficiency.
    • Performs ventilation weaning mechanics, develops or refines ventilator care plans, and communicates findings and recommendations to the patient care team.
    • Correctly documents all pertinent data and charges on patient medical records.
    • Performs EKGs and follows departmental collection, reporting, and documentation policies.
    • Maintains knowledge of various methods of oxygen delivery and follows oxygen protocol appropriately.
    • Provides educational training to patient and/or family members as appropriate.
    • Adheres to hospital and departmental initiatives/policies and attends staff meetings.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate with a certificate of completion from a Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education (JRCRTE) program.
    • BLS Required.
    • ACLS, NRP, PALS required within 6 months of hire.
    • Registry from the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

    Competencies:

    • Clear communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members.
    • Ability to withstand crisis situations.
    • Skills to provide customer service to patients, team members, and visitors.
    • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.

    Credentials:

    • Essential: RCPLIC - Respiratory Care Practitioner State License, BLS - Basic Life Saving certification.
    • Nonessential: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program/Certificate, PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

    Education:

    • Essential: Associates Degree

    Salary Range:

    • Entry: USD $30.60/Hr.
    • Expert: USD $47.43/Hr.
