Exercise Physiologist

Job Description
- Conduct education and motivation to assess, improve, and maintain patients' fitness and health by designing exercise programs and ongoing prescriptions.
- Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and manage Health Promotion and Community Health Education for employees, their families, and the public.
- Present health/fitness information to new employees at New Employee Orientation (NEO).
- Serve as a resource for the BWAW wellness team for on-site and virtual company presentations and exercise-related requests.
- Actively promote the Wellness Center to the BWAW population.
- Provide services emphasizing the adoption of exercise as a healthy lifestyle choice for employees and the public.
- Conduct training for staff, schedule and teach group fitness classes with modifications for all audiences, report outcomes data, and give wellness center orientations focusing on proper safety techniques.
- Serve as the certified exercise physiologist of a medically managed wellness/weight loss program with a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Provide education towards behavior modification conducive to success.
- Meet with patients to understand their needs and review their medical histories.
- Conduct exercise assessments to evaluate baseline fitness levels and starting points.
- Suggest exercise programs, discussing benefits and potential risks with patients.
- Design individualized exercise plans based on patients' needs and goals.
- Administer exercise prescriptions designed to improve mobility, flexibility, strength, body composition, and cardiovascular endurance; accelerate recovery from injury; and help patients live with disabilities.
- Work directly with special populations and controlled diseases such as cardiovascular disease, pregnancy, cancer, osteoporosis, orthopedics, etc.
- Obtain continuing education in the field.
This position requires providing services to adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
Requirements
- Possesses a BS degree from an accredited college or university in counseling-fitness or a wellness-related field.
- Experience in the health promotion/wellness field.
- Must possess adequate knowledge of health appraisal techniques, risk factor identification, and sub-maximal exercise testing.
- Demonstrate an understanding of techniques for motivation, teaching, and counseling individuals to promote lifestyle changes.
- Must be willing to obtain ACSM certification as a Certified Exercise Physiologist.

- Pay rate: $20.06 based on relevant experience.
