    Radiographer

    The Radiographer will be responsible for performing radiology procedures in a busy pediatric Radiology department, ensuring quality results and communicating the relevance of the results to other health care professionals.

    Job Description

    • Reviews and evaluates requisitions for diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
    • Identifies patients according to hospital policy with two identifiers.
    • Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
    • Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops a care plan for that patient's specific needs.
    • Explains the examination and is able to answer questions from patients and parents regarding the exam and radiation exposure, practicing ALARA.
    • Follows departmental QC/Data Integrity Workflow.
    • Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
    • Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
    • Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
    • Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
    • Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Complies with ETU.
    • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
    • Practices the six core values of the hospital: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork, and accountability.
    • Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.

    Requirements

    • An Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology is required.
    • MA Radiographer license and ARRT certification is required.
    • The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth, experience-based knowledge.
    • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
