Job Description

• Under direct supervision of the CT Manager, the CT Technologist utilizes computerized tomography scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.
• Operates a CT (computed tomography) scanner to perform technologist duties as required and necessary for proper departmental workflow.
• Performs appropriate studies on patients of all ages, as determined through policy and procedure.
• Follows requisition in terms of providing proper study for patients.
• Ensures that exam requisition matches patient identification, condition, and/or history and calls or asks the appropriate persons for more information as necessary to perform the proper study.
• Prepares patient for exams as required and ensures patient comfort and modesty at all times.
• Accommodates patient needs and staffing needs through flexibility in scheduling and timeliness of studies.
• Monitors patient's conditions and takes action to facilitate the best course of care, including nurse involvement, further monitoring, and/or other patient-focused solutions.
• Sets up equipment as necessary and uses proper imaging techniques.
• Adjusts imaging factors when necessary to improve study or quality factors.
• Works through radiologist's requirements to provide appropriate images and provides additional views and variations of techniques as requested.
• Completes procedures in a timely fashion while providing quality images for Radiology and outside departments.
• Completes work by the end of the shift or communicates with coworkers about work needing completion.
• Performs patient-focused customer service and ensures that standards are met appropriately.
• Communicates patient complaints professionally to the appropriate supervisor.
• Keeps discussions around patients to a minimum and ensures that patients are not subjected to departmental conversations and/or any inappropriate behavior.
• Handles telephone calls and requests for services both professionally and appropriately.
• Treats patients and fellow staff with dignity and respect and reports any/all problems to the supervisor.
• Ensures that all required documentation is properly completed for billing purposes, including electronic orders and paperwork related to all procedures performed.
• Understands and adheres to managed care guidelines to ensure proper recording for billing of Radiology procedures.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Must be ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology; CT Specialty required or obtained within one year of employment.
• BLS or CPR required.
• IV Certification required.
